► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Sportsmatic Calendar 7625-8961 men’s classic automatic dress watch from the 1960s, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM). Part of Seiko’s respected Sportsmatic Calendar line, this model features a clean and elegant dial design paired with a reliable automatic movement that helped establish Seiko as a leader in the watch industry during the 1960s. The watch is being sold for parts or repair. The crown does not pull out properly, preventing normal time and date setting. Although the watch is currently running and keeping accurate time, it will almost certainly require a service due to its age. The watch is fitted on a brown leather strap. I am unsure whether the strap is original to the watch. The watch has signs of use and age consistent with a vintage timepiece. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully prior to purchase. Key Details: • Brand: Seiko • Model: Sportsmatic Calendar 7625-8961 • Era: 1960s • Market: Japan Domestic Market (JDM) • Movement: Automatic • Jewels: 17 • Features: Date Display • Strap: Brown Leather Strap • Condition: For parts or repair; crown does not pull out properly; running and keeping accurate time; service recommended; signs of use and age A desirable vintage Seiko automatic with classic 1960s styling that would make an excellent restoration project for collectors of vintage Japanese watches. Ships carefully. Feel free to message me with any questions.

► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
