Up for sale is a Rare Vintage Seiko Socie 1719-3000 Unisex 14K WGP Manual Wind Classic Dress Watch, a highly unusual Japan Domestic Market (JDM) model from the 1960s. The Seiko Socie line is among the most distinctive and unconventional watches produced by Seiko during the era, featuring a unique square case design and elegant minimalist styling that set it apart from traditional dress watches of the period.
The watch is in full working condition and is running and holding accurate time. It is fitted with an aftermarket brown leather strap. All other parts of the watch are original.
One of the most interesting features of this watch is its rear-mounted winding and time-setting mechanism. While other watches of the era utilized similar concepts, the Seiko Socie remains one of the most distinctive executions of the design. The absence of a traditional side-mounted crown gives the watch an exceptionally clean and modern appearance, while the unique mechanism on the case back makes it a fascinating piece of vintage Seiko engineering and a true conversation starter.
The case measures approximately 22.5mm x 27.5mm, making it a versatile size that can be comfortably worn by both men and women.
The watch is in good physical condition with signs of use and age consistent with a vintage timepiece. The photos best describe its physical condition.

► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY
Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
