Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko Lord Matic LM 5606-7000 men’s automatic dress watch produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the late 1960s. The Lord Matic line represented one of Seiko’s premium automatic offerings of the era and is highly regarded among collectors for its quality construction, reliable automatic movement, and timeless styling.
This watch is in full working condition. All features and functions of the watch are working properly and it is running and holding accurate time over a 24 hour period. The quickset day and date functions are working as intended.
The watch retains its original case, dial, hands, crown, and movement. I am unsure if the bracelet is original to the watch, but I believe it is. The watch shows signs of use and age consistent with a vintage timepiece. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully.
An especially interesting feature of this example is the original presentation engraving on the caseback. The engraving reads 永年表彰記念 日本国有鉄道 , which translates to “Commemoration of Long-Service Recognition – Japanese National Railways (JNR).” This indicates the watch was likely awarded to a Japanese National Railways employee in recognition of many years of service, adding a unique piece of Japanese railway history and collectibility to the watch.

► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY
Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
