► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Seiko 5 Sportsmatic 6619-8050 men’s gold plated automatic dress watch from the 1960s, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM). This classic Sportsmatic model features a clean and elegant design along with Seiko’s reliable automatic movement, making it a desirable example of vintage Japanese watchmaking. The watch is in full working condition and is running and holding accurate time over a 24-hour period. All parts of the watch are original. It should be noted that the bracelet has several links that appear to be damaged or broken and will likely require repair or replacement before it can be worn regularly. If desired, I will include an aftermarket leather strap with the watch. The watch is in good vintage physical condition outside of the bracelet issues. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully prior to purchase. ► ARCHIVE FILE: SEIKO — BRAND HISTORY

Seiko begins with Kintaro Hattori, who opened a shop selling and repairing clocks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1881, at the age of twenty-one. He founded the Seikosha factory in 1892 to manufacture wall clocks, built Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913, and put the Seiko name on a dial for the first time in 1924. By mid-century his successors ran one of the most vertically integrated watch companies on earth, making everything from hairsprings to cases under its own roof.
