Up for sale is an extremely rare and highly desirable Citizen Vega Color Graph DA40 Men’s Digital LCD Sports Watch, produced exclusively for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1980s. The Vega Color Graph series is one of Citizen’s most iconic digital sports lines, celebrated for its distinctive LCD display with colorful graph indicators and advanced multi-function capabilities. This watch is in full working condition, with all features and functions operating properly. All parts of the watch are completely original, including the case and bracelet. Its bold design perfectly captures the futuristic styling of 1980s digital sports watches, paired with Citizen’s innovative quartz technology. Please note: there is some screen bleed present, found on the second counter and on the main screen in the corners. This is a common age-related characteristic on vintage LCD displays and does not affect the watch’s operation. The watch shows signs of use and age consistent with a vintage item. ► ARCHIVE FILE: CITIZEN — BRAND HISTORY

Citizen traces to the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, founded in Tokyo in 1918. Its first product, a pocket watch completed in 1924, was christened CITIZEN, a name encouraged by Tokyo mayor Shinpei Goto in the hope that the watch would be close to the hearts of ordinary people. Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930, and through the postwar decades it grew into one of the two pillars of Japanese watchmaking alongside Seiko, eventually ranking among the largest watch producers in the world.
