► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is an extremely rare vintage Citizen Independent flip-top men’s dress watch from the 1990s, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM), reference 1032-003324-02. This highly distinctive model is part of Citizen’s Independent line and features a unique hinged flip-top case design that conceals and reveals the dial, making it a standout and unconventional dress watch from the era. The watch is in full working condition, and all features and functions of the watch are working properly. The dial is especially striking, featuring a very uncommon two-tone appearance with black and subtle brownish-red tones that shift depending on lighting. All parts of the watch itself are original. The bracelet shows age consistent with the watch and matches it extremely well; however, there are no visible Citizen markings on the bracelet, so its originality cannot be stated with certainty. It may very well be the original band, but this cannot be confirmed. The watch shows signs of use and age consistent with a vintage piece. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully. ► ARCHIVE FILE: CITIZEN — BRAND HISTORY

Citizen traces to the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, founded in Tokyo in 1918. Its first product, a pocket watch completed in 1924, was christened CITIZEN, a name encouraged by Tokyo mayor Shinpei Goto in the hope that the watch would be close to the hearts of ordinary people. Citizen Watch Co. was formally established in 1930, and through the postwar decades it grew into one of the two pillars of Japanese watchmaking alongside Seiko, eventually ranking among the largest watch producers in the world.
