► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a vintage Elgin Art Deco men’s classic dress watch from the 1920s, featuring a beautifully styled fancy enamel dial and a timeless round sterling silver case that reflects the elegance of early 20th-century American watchmaking. The watch is currently running and holding accurate time and was recently serviced in April of 2026. The dial features stylized black Roman numerals, blued steel hands, and a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock. It has a striking fancy enamel-style layout with a soft two-tone presentation and gold accent detailing around the inner track, giving this piece strong Art Deco character and refined visual appeal. All parts of the watch are original. The case is solid sterling silver, as indicated by the inner caseback markings. The watch remains in fantastic physical condition for its age and shows light signs of use and age. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully. The watch is fitted on an aftermarket brown leather strap. ► ARCHIVE FILE: ELGIN — BRAND HISTORY

Elgin was founded in 1864 as the National Watch Company, when a group of Chicago investors led by former mayor Benjamin W. Raymond set out to beat Waltham at industrialized watchmaking. They raised the money, persuaded the town of Elgin, Illinois to donate land beside the Fox River, and hired away seven of Waltham's best men to design the machinery. The first movement, a railroad-grade pocket watch named the B.W. Raymond in the mayor's honor, was completed in 1867, and the firm took the name Elgin National Watch Company in 1874.
