► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is a rare vintage Casio World Time W-50U men’s digital sports watch from the 1980s, equipped with the original Module 643. This Japan Domestic Market (JDM) release is a highly collectible Casio model, admired for its classic world time design and retro styling. The watch is in working condition, and all features and functions operate properly except for the sound, which does not appear to be functioning. It has not been tested to determine the cause of the issue. It is fitted with a brand new genuine Casio strap (aftermarket replacement), as the original strap had deteriorated with age. The new strap maintains the correct look and feel of the watch while ensuring long-term wearability. The watch has signs of use, including some wording rubbed off on the bezel. Please carefully review the photos, as they best describe the overall physical condition. ► ARCHIVE FILE: CASIO — BRAND HISTORY

Casio began not with watches but with calculation. Tadao Kashio founded Kashio Seisakujo in Tokyo in 1946, and with his three brothers developed the 14-A in 1957, the world's first compact all-electric relay calculator, incorporating the business as Casio Computer Co. that same year. The move into watchmaking came in November 1974 with the Casiotron, a digital watch whose claim to fame was an automatic calendar that knew how many days each month had, a small feat of logic that announced how an electronics firm would approach timekeeping.
