Up for sale is a Rare Vintage Casio WL-50 men’s solar digital sports watch from the 1980s, produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) and powered by module 617. This model represents Casio’s early experimentation with solar-powered digital technology, featuring a distinctive dial layout with the original solar cell panel integrated above the LCD display.
The watch is being sold for parts or repair as it is currently not functioning and completely untested, so it is unknown what the issue is or if the watch can be repaired.
All parts of the watch are original. Please note that the case back is missing and not included. The watch head is also being sold without a strap.

Casio began not with watches but with calculation. Tadao Kashio founded Kashio Seisakujo in Tokyo in 1946, and with his three brothers developed the 14-A in 1957, the world's first compact all-electric relay calculator, incorporating the business as Casio Computer Co. that same year. The move into watchmaking came in November 1974 with the Casiotron, a digital watch whose claim to fame was an automatic calendar that knew how many days each month had, a small feat of logic that announced how an electronics firm would approach timekeeping.
