► SELLER'S DESCRIPTION
Up for sale is an extremely rare vintage Casio FTP-11 Flip Top Calculator ana-digi men’s watch powered by Module 760 and produced for the Japan Domestic Market (JDM) in the 1980s. This is one of Casio’s most unique and innovative designs featuring a hidden flip top calculator integrated into the watch making it one of the most distinctive models ever produced. The watch is in full working condition except for the calculator keyboard which is not functioning properly. In the photos it may appear that the calculator screen is not turning on however this is because a key must be pressed in order to activate the display. When a new battery was installed the calculator screen properly displayed a zero. The calculator display automatically goes to sleep when not in use so no numbers will appear on the screen until a key is pressed. It is possible that the calculator keyboard could be repaired and this will be left to the buyer if they choose to pursue it. All parts of the watch head are original and the watch is fitted on an aftermarket strap. The watch is in good physical condition overall but has signs of use and age. The photos best describe its physical condition and should be reviewed carefully by interested buyers. ► ARCHIVE FILE: CASIO — BRAND HISTORY

Casio began not with watches but with calculation. Tadao Kashio founded Kashio Seisakujo in Tokyo in 1946, and with his three brothers developed the 14-A in 1957, the world's first compact all-electric relay calculator, incorporating the business as Casio Computer Co. that same year. The move into watchmaking came in November 1974 with the Casiotron, a digital watch whose claim to fame was an automatic calendar that knew how many days each month had, a small feat of logic that announced how an electronics firm would approach timekeeping.
